Your Spring Bucket List
Don't let the season pass you by.
The weather has officially turned. Sure there’s rain, but that’s only to bring on the blooms! Spring is here for such a short time— before the dog days of summer take over. Here is a handy Bucket List for making the most out of this laughably short season. Add your own ideas in the comments!
Buy fresh flowers
Weekend trip. My husband and I recently drove to Boston to meet friends of the newsletter, Sarah & Pat Capozzi, for one night at the Copley Square Hotel and went for dinner and to see Destroyer in concert. It was exactly the kind of excitement I needed to launch my spring social schedule.
Meditate on a park bench
Dry clean your winter jackets
Drink a Negroni at a sidewalk cafe
Make a spring-themed recipe. I think Alison Roman has been canceled for beef with John Legend’s wife, but her recipe for Pasta Salad with Peas and Parmesan is enough of a reason to give her a second chance.
Purchase a new umbrella. I bought everyone in my family this windproof, travel umbrella because it has a lifetime replacement warranty, after being fed up with every umbrella being demolished in a wind tunnel. One of the spokes broke and the company immediately replaced it. *Note: their replacement policy doesn’t include leaving your umbrella at a bar.
Attend Whitney Biennial
Go to a reading. It’s official. Literary readings are the hottest ticket in town. This is a direct quote from the NY Times, so you don’t have to take my word for it.
Take a long walk listening to a podcast.
Spring clean one drawer or one closet. I’m not asking you to Maria Kondo your whole house, but just pick one messy area and tidy it up. I put all my sleep scrunchies in a pouch and already felt better.
Pay your taxes
Read a poem in a garden
Join a CSA. Or a fish CSA. I’m thinking about Mermaid’s Garden.
Kiss a stranger or a loved one
Pet your neighbor’s dog
Go see Civil War
Buy tissues for your purse even if you don’t have allergies so you can hand them out to people who inhale pollen
Learn to identify one new tree in your neighborhood. Or plant a tree if you have the space.
Make the switch to cold brew. Grady’s Cold Brew, IYKYK
Kill a lantern fly
Choose a book to tackle before summer. Visit my Bookshop page if you need some recommendations.
See the cherry blossoms at Brooklyn Botanical Garden
Crank open your windows
Call your best friend on the phone
Make a spring playlist consisting only of songs you will sing along to
Buy a bagel with lox at Barneys Greengrass and eat it at Central Park
Purchase a spring signature scent
Add fruit to your water
Decide to walk next time it rains, instead of ordering an Uber, and save on the surge rates
Add one more thing to the list. Then do it!

I called my best friend yesterday ✔️ 😉
can't wait for a visit to the the Sturgeon King!
